Magazines – Investigation into colour

After my tutorial with Alison and discussing the importance of colour in my child/play-based work, I have photocopied the covers of children’s magazines in black and white to see if this removes the element of ‘fun’.

It is interesting to see how much difference this makes. They seem much less interesting, and the Peppa Pig magazine looks somewhat spooky.

I now plan on experimenting with colour in rider to make content of a boring adults based magazine more appealing. Alternately I could try to make an exciting child’s magazine look less interesting, removing the colour and making the formatting less varied.
